Curcumin is a type of curcuminoid, extracted from the root of turmeric, biologically called curcuma longa. It is orange yellow powder with bitter taste. Curcumin 95% is liposoluble, and curcumin 10% ,60% are water soluble.
In food, curcumin powder is a natural food coloring agent, flavoring agent and preservative, and its E number is E100 in European Union food additives codes.
In dietary supplements, curcumin powder is used as ingredients as it offers a lot of potential health benefits.
